Eggshells are not just for breaking...the texture of an egg makes an interesting surface on which to PAINT. The artist recycles ostrich eggs and gives them a new life…in fact, the egg is symbolically known for “new life”. The egg was painted with a happy pictorial and given several coats of glossy varnish to simulate a shiny, freshly laid egg. Although breakable the thick shell permits handling and eggs may be held and admired as you like! Gift box and egg stand included.

The Ostrich egg is the largest egg in the world. It can weigh up to five pounds. One Ostrich egg is equivalent to twenty chicken eggs. Unlike a chicken egg, an Ostrich egg is really tough. The shell is about 1/8th inch thick. This egg came from a local farm and was painted in the artist’s studio. (bethsgallery.com)
